Apple's EarPods (USB-C) are wired earbuds with an inline microphone and remote. Nothing to charge, nothing to pair and nothing to lose in a drawer for weeks: they are the spare for calls on iPhone 15, 16 and 17 and on any USB-C laptop. The one thing to know is that this is the USB-C version; iPhone 14 and earlier need the Lightning EarPods.

When are wired EarPods the right buy?

  • Apple's list price is $19 (Apple, Sep 2026).
  • Plug in and go: no Bluetooth pairing, no battery, no firmware.
  • Inline remote handles calls, volume and playback.
  • A sensible add-on for phone fleets and for staff who lose wireless earbuds.

There is no noise isolation, and the flat cable tangles in a pocket. For hands-free desk work they beat no headset at all; for anything longer or louder, wireless with noise cancellation is a different budget. Browse other low-cost essentials in the everyday tech category.

Who should skip it

Anyone on an older Lightning-port iPhone, or who works in a noisy environment and needs isolation, should look elsewhere. These are a backup, not the primary headset for all-day calls.
