Elgato Prompter

The Elgato Prompter is an all-in-one desktop teleprompter with a built-in screen, so a founder can read a script, notes or the meeting chat while looking straight into the lens. For anyone recording marketing video or presenting to camera regularly, it removes the eye-line problem. The one thing to know is that it is a desk device; the larger Prompter XL exists for bigger setups.

Who benefits from a desktop teleprompter?

• Priced at $279.99 on elgato.com (August 2026).
• The integrated screen mirrors any window, so it doubles as a monitor for video calls with the camera behind it.
• Works with webcams and mirrorless cameras mounted behind the glass.
• Reviews across 2026 are consistently positive, and it is genuinely useful for the content-marketing readership.

The Prompter XL (15.6-inch) extends the line for studio use. Browse creator gear for the Key Light Air and Stream Deck that complete a desk studio.

Who should skip it

Anyone who films on a phone away from a desk, or who speaks unscripted, will not use it enough. Occasional presenters can manage with notes beside the camera.
