Best for: Per reviewers: break rooms and households wanting Nintendo's library on a hybrid console; the display-sensitive should look first.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is Nintendo's hybrid console: a 7.9-inch 120Hz screen in handheld mode, 4K output when docked and GameChat voice and video. Nintendo says it is its fastest-selling console ever, with 23.68 million units shipped by 30 June 2026. On Digital4All it is the break-room and staff-incentive console; the business relevance is thin and we say so.

Why list a games console on a business marketplace?

  • Nintendo's list price is $499.99 (Nintendo, Sep 2026) for the console alone, raised from $449.99 on 1 September 2026 citing market conditions.
  • Game bundles at the same price often represent better value than the console-only box.
  • Frequent stock-outs mean availability varies week to week.
  • Case, microSD and Pro Controller bundles are separate listings.

It appears as the break-room pick in our 10-person office tech kit; browse everyday tech.

Who should skip it

Anyone shopping for work equipment. It is a staff perk or a personal purchase, and the bundles are usually the smarter buy.

What reviewers say

Launch reviews were warm and consistent: a refined, much faster Switch with a bigger screen, marked down for battery life and, by the measurement-led outlets, for the LCD panel.

  • Tom's Guide rates it 4.5/5 and calls it "the best hybrid console you can buy", praising upgraded performance, the 7.9-inch display, the redesigned Joy-Con 2 and mouse mode, with poor battery life and weak ergonomics as the cons. (Tom's Guide, Jun 2025)
  • The Verge gives it 8/10 under the headline verdict that it is exactly good enough: improved hardware and display, faster loading and new social features, against disappointing battery life, few first-party launch games and no standout new feature. (The Verge, Jun 2025)
  • Engadget scores it 93/100 and measured battery life at 2 h 23 min in Mario Kart World and 2 h 56 min in Breath of the Wild at maximum brightness; it also notes the LCD's weaker black levels and the absence of variable refresh rate when docked. (Engadget, Jun 2025)
  • Digital Foundry's hardware review is impressed with the system overall but states "the display is a clear disappointment", finding pixel response times slower than the original Switch, with visible blur in fast side-scrolling. (Digital Foundry, Jun 2025)
  • Notebookcheck, reporting Digital Foundry's findings, adds that HDR is lacklustre because of brightness limits and that the backlight washes out blacks and contrast. (Notebookcheck, Jun 2025)
  • Metacritic lists more than 30 outlet scores for the hardware ranging from 70 to 100, with IGN's 70 the lowest and PCMag and The Verge at 80. (Metacritic, Jun 2025)

Consensus: a substantial generational upgrade in speed, screen size and controls; the disagreement is the screen itself, which general reviewers praise for size and the measurement-led outlets fault for response time and contrast, and everyone marks down the two-to-three-hour battery in demanding games.
