The MacBook Neo is Apple's entry-level 13-inch laptop, built around the A18 Pro chip with a Liquid Retina display, an Apple-quoted battery of up to 16 hours and a 2.7lb chassis. It is the front-office and student Mac: browser, Office, Zoom and email. The one thing to know is that the 8GB of RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded.
Is the MacBook Neo enough for office work?
- Apple's list price is $699 (Apple, Sep 2026) for 256GB; the 512GB model with Touch ID is $799. Apple raised the launch price from $599 in June 2026, citing memory costs.
- 8GB RAM handles everyday productivity; RTINGS says professional workloads want the MacBook Air instead.
- Two USB-C ports, one of which runs at USB 2 speed; fanless design.
- Supports Apple Intelligence, though the practical benefit for SME users is modest.

Who should skip it
Anyone running design, video or many browser tabs at once will hit the 8GB ceiling. Buyers needing more ports or Touch ID on the base model should step up to the Air.
