The Microsoft Surface Laptop (7th Edition) is the Copilot+ PC reference design: a 45-TOPS NPU (manufacturer figure), on-device Windows AI features and, in reviews of the first-generation Snapdragon X model, 15-20 hours of battery. The linked configuration is the 13.8-inch Snapdragon X Plus with 16GB and 256GB. The one thing to know is that it is Arm, so niche Windows software may not run.
Is the Surface Laptop the right Copilot+ PC for a small business?
- Pricing starts around $999 for the 13.8-inch X Plus configuration per the listing's pricing line; the 13-inch model is a separate SKU.
- Microsoft's own hardware gets Windows updates first and has the cleanest software image.
- Battery life, not AI, is why Copilot+ PCs have sold well (Digital Trends).
- Arm compatibility edge cases remain; test line-of-business software before a fleet purchase.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is the value alternative and the Dell XPS 14 the x86 safe pick. Read our Copilot+ laptops guide; more in AI computing.
Who should skip it
Anyone dependent on x86-only software or older peripherals. Refurbished units and third-party hub bundles are separate listings.
