Best for: Small offices and rented premises that need keyless, schedulable access on an existing thumb-turn deadbolt, without modifying the door or commissioning an access-control system.
The Lock Ultra is a retrofit lock: it clamps over the thumb-turn on the inside of an existing deadbolt, so the cylinder, the keys and the door are untouched. For a rented office that is the whole argument — keyless, schedulable access without a landlord conversation or a four-figure access-control install. SwitchBot lists it at $139.99 standalone, with the Touch keypad combination around $170–200 and the face-unlock Keypad Vision combination around $250, verified August 2026.
It supports 17 unlock methods across fingerprint, keypad, NFC, the app and voice assistants via Matter, and runs about twelve months on a rechargeable battery with a supercapacitor holding enough charge for emergency unlocks. Reviewers in 2025–26 treated it as the model that made the older Lock Pro redundant.
Three things to check before buying. It only fits thumb-turn deadbolts — there are adapters for some mortise and Jimmy-proof locks, but this is the specification that decides whether it fits your door at all. Remote and Matter control needs a hub, so budget a SwitchBot hub alongside it rather than after. And the biometrics are good rather than flawless: fingerprint reads are inconsistent with wet or cold fingers, with a delay of roughly one and a half to two and a half seconds reported across reviews, and app-based auto-unlock geofencing is unreliable enough that you should not depend on it. Finally, position it correctly: this is a convenience and control product, not audited access control. If you need a defensible entry log for compliance, you are shopping in the wrong category.
Not tested hands-on.
