Vultr is an independent cloud provider offering virtual servers, bare metal, block storage, managed Kubernetes and GPU instances across more than 30 data-centre locations worldwide. Its pricing and control panel resemble DigitalOcean's, and its distinguishing point is geography: locations in and near the Middle East and other regions the larger budget clouds do not cover. The one thing to know is that it is a raw infrastructure provider, so you manage the servers yourself.

Where does Vultr fit for a small business?

  • Pricing: instances from $2.50–6/mo (Vultr pricing, August 2026), billed hourly. There is no free tier.
  • Regional data centres reduce latency for customers and staff in the Gulf and South Asia, which matters for self-hosted ERP, VoIP or web apps.
  • It is a practical home for the self-hosting guides on this site, such as How to Install ERPNext (Self-Hosted) in 2026.
  • Snapshots, backups and additional IPs are paid extras.

See Hosting & Cloud for the managed alternatives if you would rather not run Linux.

Who should skip it

Businesses without someone to patch and secure a server should choose managed hosting such as Kinsta or Cloudways. Teams that need a deep catalogue of managed services (queues, serverless, data warehouses) will still need a hyperscaler.
