Amazon Echo Dot Kids (newest model)

The Echo Dot Kids is the fifth-generation Echo Dot hardware in child-friendly designs, with a parent dashboard, explicit-lyric filtering and a year of Kids+ included. It is a home product; the business angle is a parent working from home who wants a speaker the children can use safely. The one thing to know: the Kids+ subscription auto-renews after the free year.

What does the Echo Dot Kids add over a standard Echo Dot?

• Parent dashboard for time limits, content filters and activity review.
• A year of Kids+ bundled; afterwards it renews at $5.99 a month with Prime or $7.99 without.
• Same speaker hardware as the 2022 Echo Dot; the 2025 refresh is software, including Alexa+ kids experiences and Sleep Studio content from Calm, Headspace and Moshi.
• Alexa+ is free with Prime in the US and Canada, $19.99 a month otherwise, and only in early access in the UK, EU and Australia; Gulf readers get classic Alexa.

Who should skip it

Offices and anyone without children at home should buy the standard Echo Dot. Anyone who does not want another auto-renewing subscription should set a reminder to cancel.
