The eero Max 7 is the flagship Wi-Fi 7 mesh node in the eero range: 10GbE and 2.5GbE wired ports, roughly 2,500 sq ft of coverage per node, support for 200-plus devices and a Thread/Zigbee hub inside. It only earns its premium over the eero Pro 7 if the office has a multi-gigabit internet plan or wired backhaul. The one thing to know: it launched in September 2023, making it the oldest Wi-Fi 7 eero.

Does a small office need the eero Max 7?

  • The 10GbE ports are the reason to buy; without multi-gig internet or a fast wired core they sit idle.
  • Tom's Guide praises its range and wired ports; Dong Knows Tech rates it poorly for the price because it is cloud-managed with no local control.
  • Parental controls, ad blocking, usage history and threat scanning require the eero Plus subscription ($9.99 a month or $99.99 a year).
  • No local admin interface or VLANs.

Who should skip it

Offices on gigabit-or-slower internet should buy the Pro 7. Anyone who needs VLANs or local management should look at UniFi.
